MY APPROACH
In my coaching service, every engagement is customized to the student’s developmental needs and desired areas of focus. The students I have worked with have varied dramatically, from sophomores studying liberal arts with no prior finance and accounting backgrounds to first-year MBA students with substantial relevant technical prep and experience. All sessions are conducted through Zoom video. I am flexible and able to work with my students at their convenience. Moreover, I make myself available 7 days a week via text or email.

The base knowledge are the standard investment banking interview guides. While those are key tools and should be learned from cover-to-cover, it is not enough in this competitive world of investment banking interview prep. In actual interviews, students are expected to show that they have an understanding of the guide above-and-beyond rote memorization and they must be able to handle the “curve balls” that will be thrown at them. In addition, investment banks generally ask technical questions that are not listed in any guide, so it is critical for students to understand the financial concepts and the underlying foundation. These essential aspects are key parts of my technical training.

A big part of the interview preparation that I provide focuses on behavioral questions that are asked in interviews. I teach students to identify and leverage questions that can set them apart; we work together to learn and manage the weaknesses that they have. Perhaps most importantly, I help them craft strong, personalized answers to the classic question, "why investment banking?" Moreover, with my varied background, I am able to leverage some communication tools from other industries. For instance, in interviews, it is important to speak like a McKinsey consultant, i.e., "talk in two's and three's." The insight I provide allows students to speak with more structure and it generates a crisper delivery. Moreover, often the answer to many questions is simply "it depends." This give your mind more time to process the question and makes you appear more thoughtful in your answer.
